Dev Bytes: Jul 11, 2025

Q2 Deliveries: Foundational Platform & Self-Service Onboarding

Q2 concluded with the successful release of the Cloud Console and the Public Deployment API. The Cloud Console's initial version specifically enables account and API key management, empowering users to leverage the API for deployments. This API-first approach provides the critical foundational capability for self-service onboarding, allowing users to sign up and deploy independently to the network.

While static site hosting was planned for Q2, its delivery has been slightly delayed.

Q3 Focus: Static Site Hosting, Holochain 0.5 & Host Migration

Our key priorities for Q3 are:

Static Site Hosting: This highly anticipated product is a top priority for delivery. It will offer full service for existing hApps and enable the broader community to use our hosting, even if they aren't deploying a Holochain application. This opens up opportunities for hosting personal blogs, e-commerce stores, and other traditional websites on Holo’s decentralized and distributed network of HoloPorts.

Holochain 0.5 Support: We're prioritizing adding support for Holochain 0.5 to our cloud nodes and web bridge products. Due to the modular nature of our new Allograph network, this integration is expected to be a relatively straightforward task.

Host Migration to Allograph: With the core platform foundations (Orchestrator, Scheduler, API, Cloud Console) and initial products now in place, a major focus for this third quarter is migrating HoloPorts to the new Allograph network. This involves developing robust processes and tools, including support mechanisms, pre-migration checks, and re-installers for HoloPorts. Our goal is a streamlined and largely automated update process, with a target of migrating at least 50 HoloPorts and the capability to rapidly onboard many more.

Delivery Brief Livestream Highlights

During our last Delivery Brief Livestream, several key points were addressed:

Network Promotion: While current promotion focuses on hApp hosting, broader promotion for products like static site hosting will be initiated to reach a wider audience.

HoloPorts in Service: HoloPorts are already providing service, and efforts in Q3 will significantly expand the number of active HoloPorts on the network. Full-time hosting services are currently being provided.

Product Readiness for Broader Range of Users: The platform is ready for real products and a broader range of individual users. Our initial offerings have been Holochain, that is, hApp-hosting specific, but upcoming products like static site hosting will empower a broader reach to satisfy the needs of various kinds of customers in the ecosystem.

Scalability: No scalability issues have been identified on the Holo side, and Holochain 0.5 has received positive feedback regarding its performance.

Modular Design: The Allograph network's modular design moves us towards supporting existing companies, contrasting with the previous Holochain-specific model. This enables the unique capability of precise workload placement, down to specific cities or even neighborhoods.
